• Suki | Yet another sad story about google adsense...

I started an adsense account in order to gain some cash for paying hosting bills,  I started to set up the ad spaces  and everything,  in 8 days I receive 1 click for a grand total of 0.18  or 0.018  or something like that,  that was fine since I didn't expect lots of money,  I just need enough for the hosting bills currently ste up to pay by year.

Anyway all of the sudden I get an email from adsense people telling me my site does not meet the adsense criteria... oh well,  no big deal... I know it is pointless to ask "why" anyway...  I guess now is the time to start searching for an alternative...

Is it really that hard to raise 35 dollars a year  ???

Meanwhile I started to show some ads from www.geekstorage.com  I got both the domain and the hosting with them and I'm really happy will all I have and specially with the price :P  so I really don't bother to have their ads in here.

Yes, I know my site has to be active and with a good amount of traffic for this,  however, that is not something I worry much  since I know I will get a few back links from my mods and this site already have traffic solely because I put it in on my url filed and sig on simplemachines.org, besides, its not like I want tons of money, I just need the very minimum for paying the host.

I'll give it a try, if within a year I cannot raise enough cash to pay for another year then I'll completely drop this ads thingy.
  • Little update,   it seems I'm not completely out  since I could go back in my adsense admin panel and the 2 ads I have are currently Active...  mmm,  I can't help to wonder if the same thing would happen again,  that is, after I set up the ads  and it has been showing for a few days then bam!  a new mail telling me my site does not compile with adsense policies or rules or whatever...

sorry but not,  I prefer to just pay the 35 dollars a year instead of toying around...

I don't think it's pointless to ask why. I would have asked them if it were me. :)
  • Oh, the reason I say its pointless is because it happened to me before,  on the site I managed a few years back we had a pretty decent traffic and user base, we decided to give adsense a try, we did well the first two months and just before reaching the minimum  we got the same mail I got saying our site did not compile with the adsense rules.

We asked why but didn't get any response from them.

We did a search and found that a lot of webmasters had the same problem of being shout down with no explanation.

I somehow understand their reasons back then, after all, we were a scanlation forum with (in some countries) illegal material hosted on or server (Our hosting did know about that material and they were OK with that ;) )

I just don't understand why they rejected my site  :'(

That's pretty messed up that they wouldn't give a reason. Just shutting you off without doing so is wrong. I'd give google a not so nice reply if that were me. lol

I decided to give it another try to this whole advertise thingy, this time with chitika, it's for guest only, I don't expect much, as long as they don't shut me down then I'm good.

If you need help with hosting let me know, you can also reapply later to adsense on other company names or if the site gets larger. They have got a little picky now on the sites they accept.

Direct ad sponsors are the best bet but take a lot of work to signup.
  • Thank you.

The whole adds thing started because of my denial to give paypal my credit card number, at least here in my country its a royal pita to get some money from your credit card to paypal.

Since the chitika ads are a total fail :P (I only see adds from Answered-Questions.com LOL  and I have a grand total of $0.00 ) I was thinking on removing the ads, its just laziness that I haven't do it yet.

As for the money for hosting, I made a couple of paid mods so I got some founds.

Dunno if this site will get bigger, I would love to see this site to be self maintained throw ads, one less thing to worry about :)
